On the 21st of November The Future of Forecasting took place in Utrecht. During this event we discussed trends, methodologies and best practices in planning and forecasting with senior professionals and thought leaders. Guests enjoyed sessions on driver based rolling forecasting; Integrated Business Planning (IBP); application of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Analytics in forecasting.

“The AI Revolution”
In this session, Prof. Dr. Postma elaborated on the origins and trends in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. He further discussed what can be the impact of AI and ML on society and business.
Patrick Tullemans | Finext
In this session, Patrick Tullemans talked about framework for implementation of AI in planning and forecasting and gave tips and examples about this.
“Data driven forecasting with Anaplan”
Smart usage of data and statistical forecasting in Financial Planning. How TakeAway leveraged Anaplan for their success was shown in this session.
“Driver based Budgeting on Board”
In this session, Pathé talked about how to link corporate strategy to annual budgeting using the OGSM method (Objectives, Goals, Strategy, and Measures) and implement driver Based Budgeting in BOARD software.
“S&OP to IBP in a digitized world”
Heineken shared their vision and roadmap to mature from S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) towards IBP (Integrated Business Planning) and talked about the role and added value of the Finance function in IBP.
Prof. Dr. Postma, Patrick Tullemans on behalf of Finext and Heineken took part in an inspiring Q&A session discussing burning questions from the audience.
Of course, the day ended with drinks. During these drinks, there was plenty of opportunity to catch up with colleagues and exchange experiences.
